WHO ARE WE?
Calgary Mako Water Polo Club is a Calgary community water polo club. We are members of the Alberta Water Polo Association (AWPA), Water Polo Canada (WPC), Play accredited LTAD. Our registration boundaries are south of Memorial Drive to Calgary's southern limits and to Calgary's eastern and western boundaries. Our pools are JCC and Repsol Pool.
WHAT ARE WE PROVIDING?
Calgary Mako Water Polo Club accepts registrations from male and female athletes ages 7 - 12 yrs. At the U12 age groups (younger than 12 yrs old), Mako’s goal is to teach basic water polo skills and provide a fun environment for all athletes that are either new to the sport, or do not have the time commitment required for the more advanced levels of competition.

WHEN DO THE KIDS PRACTICE?
Depending on the age groups Mako age groups practice 2-3 times a week at our pools: JCC and Repsol Pool, and we participate in city league game Sunday nights. For detailed age group practices for the upcoming season, please contact us.
In addition to our city league, we also participate in monthly Provincial league tournaments. These tournaments take place in various communities in Alberta, namely Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Innisfail and Edmonton.
MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS?
6-9 yrs old: Must swim at least 1 length (20-25 meters) of the pool. Deep water proficiency is not mandatory.
10-12 yrs old: Must swim 2 lengths (50 meters) and comfortable treading water in the deep end.
12+ yrs old: Must swim 4 lengths (100 meters) and more, comfortable treading water in the deep end.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED?
Boys should wear either a jammer (tight legged swim shorts that extend to the knee) or "speedo" style suit. Girls must wear a one piece, athletic swim suit or water polo suit. Custom club water polo suits are mandatory purchase for U12+ age groups. Additionally required items: swim goggles, towel and water bottle.
