Mako Anti-Bullying Policy
We want to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all players, coaches, and staff, free from bullying and harassment.
This policy applies to all individuals involved in our club including players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Bullying includes, but is not limited to, physical aggression, verbal abuse, social exclusion, and cyberbullying. It involves behavior that is intended to intimidate, dominate, or undermine others.
Policy Guidelines:
-
Respect and Fair Play: All participants must treat each other with respect and uphold the principles of fair play.
-
Reporting Procedures:
- Any instances of bullying should be reported to a coach, official, parent, or designated representative immediately.
- Reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and confidentially.
-
Consequences:
- Individuals found guilty of bullying may face disciplinary actions, including suspension or expulsion from the team or event.
- Consequences will be determined based on the severity and frequency of the behavior.
- Mako will employ a "three strike rule": if disciplinary action does not remediate behaviour, after three instances of bullying, the individual will no longer be able to participate in the club for the remainder of the season.
-
Support and Prevention:
- Educational programs on respect and bullying prevention will be provided regularly.
- At the beginning of the season, we will have a mandatory session for athletes and parents on bullying awareness, prevention, and mitigation.
-
Review and Amendments:
- This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness.
By promoting a positive and inclusive environment, we aim to support the well-being and development of all participants in water polo.
